Entry Criteria

  • NZQA Level 1 and 2 Foundation Skills Certificate students must be between 16-25 years old at the start of the program. 15-year-olds are eligible with a Ministry of Education School Exemption approval.

  • The NZQA Level 1 Foundation Skills program we offer is open entry. Level 2 however requires at the minimum, successful completion of the NZQA Level 1 Foundation Skills.

  • The student must have a legal form of identification (passport or birth certificate)

  • All our programmes are taught in English therefore all students are required to be able to speak and write in English. The level of proficiency required will be discussed during the enrollment process.

Enrolment and Selection Process

  • Click the ‘Enrol now’ button above to start the enrolment process.

  • Please have with you an electronic copy of a legally certified form of identification (e.g. a passport or driver’s licence) to upload to the electronic application form. If you need help with the enrolment application our staff are available to help. Simply contact us.

  • Each application will be evaluated and screened by our team. If an application successfully passes this stage we will invite the prospective student and their guardian for an interview. The interview is less a screening process but more a tool to help us gain more information about the particular individual (their learning abilities, medical conditions, living conditions, etc.) and identify any areas the student requires greater support in. It’s also a chance for the student to gain more information about us and determine if this is definitely the course they wish to enrol in.

  • Successful applicants will then be sent a letter of offer which they must sign and return to us. Unsuccessful applicants will be provided with the reason(s) why their application was declined.

  • Selections will be affected by the number of students already enrolled and the spaces available.

  • New enrollments are taken throughout the year to commence at the start date discussed at enrolment.

  • After receiving the signed letter of offer, the learner will be enrolled into the Academy and will enter a contract of education with us.

Recognition of Prior Learning and Current Competence

  • The Transformation Academy Trust supports the right of potential learners to gain recognition for existing skills and knowledge or prior learning.

  • Where individuals indicate that they wish to have existing skills and knowledge recognized, or where tutors identify learners who may have existing skills and knowledge, a process of assessment of this prior learning will be used. Credit will be allocated to those who meet the assessment requirements.

  • For more information about Recognition of Prior Learning contact us.

Credit Transfer

  • TA will check your Record of Learning (RoL) from NZQA during your enrolment and any Unit Standards that you have already completed will be credited (CRT’d) so you don’t need to complete these again during your time at TA.

  • Please see our team, if you would like more information about Credit Transfers.

Fees-free

  • Transformation Academy offers a fees-free training package for the New Zealand Certificate of Foundation Skills Level 1 and Level 2 courses through the Youth Guarantee funding from the Government. In other words, this course is completely free to all domestic students for the funded Equivalent Full Time Students (EFTS) allocation from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC). Additional students to this number will be charged a student fee as necessary
